In my opinion, z/XDC is the most powerful and flexible tool available for debugging complex mainframe software. z/XDC has allowed me to debug APF-authorized code, multitasking programs, SVCs, and PC routines, with exit routines, with clients, with servers, and with subsystems – almost everything that my career has demanded of me as a systems-level software developer.
z/XDC’s displays help me to see clearly what the local environment is. These features save a great deal of time that I might otherwise spend with a dump trying to create a mental image of my code and how it interacts with the environment.
"z/XDC is the most powerful and flexible tool available for debugging complex mainframe software."
"I believe z/XDC provides me with a competitive advantage."
z/XDC also helps me to work effectively with raw object code – I don’t even need source code to use the tool!
Finally, z/XDC lets me zap things just about anywhere in any storage, in any address space and any data space. This helps me to do "what if" projections wherein I create unusual conditions and see how my programs perform.
