Cole Software LLC of Afton VA announced the general availability of z/XDC, a 64-bit compatible debugger, on October 1, 2003.
z/XDC is the latest in a long series of sophisticated debugging tools for Assembler language programmers who must create and support applications in the most complex and demanding of environments on the OS/390 and z/OS platforms.
The advent of z/XDC should be of great interest to organizations that support legacy applications or exits/modifications written in Assembler language. It should be of particular help to those who intend to convert their applications to z/OS. For any exploitation of 64-bit architecture under z/OS, z/XDC will be a natural choice.
At the center of Cole Software is Dave Cole himself, the original architect and designer of the XDC products. Dave has put two solid years of work into z/XDC, making nearly 110,000 lines of code changes. It has been a major engineering effort indeed!
z/XDC supports:
For nearly 27 years Cole Software's quality assurance products have been the tools of choice for many, if not most, of the world's software developers and a number of Fortune 500 companies. Using z/XDC, a knowledgeable programmer can interrogate and control running programs whether they execute in the local TSO address space, in the private area of another address space, in a batch program, in any application exit or even in the operating
system itself.
The ability to work on SVCs, PC routines, JES, VTAM, CICS, ISPF, IMS, DB2 and other complex applications (just to mention a few) is why Cole Software's products appeal to a small but extremely competent (and appreciative!) group of programming professionals.
